Harmony Court
Harmony Court is a residential competition proposal in Uyo, Nigeria, composed around music, water and shade. A pool courtyard brings daylight, landscape and shared outdoor space into the centre of the home. Sheltered thresholds and planted terraces connect the rooms to their tropical setting.
A double-height music room forms the social heart of the house. The grand piano at ground level and organ lounge above occupy one connected volume, allowing family members to see, listen and gather across two floors. Dining and living spaces open towards the courtyard, while a separate cinema offers a more enclosed setting.
The plan moves from shared spaces and guest accommodation on the ground floor to family bedrooms, a shared study and outdoor terraces above. The uppermost level contains a private suite, lounge, study and planted terrace. This arrangement gives each part of the household its own degree of privacy while keeping everyday life connected.
Pale mineral finishes, stone, timber screens and warm oak interiors establish a consistent material language. Deep shade, carefully placed openings and planting inform the architectural proposal. Photovoltaic roof zones and a solar parking canopy are included as design studies. Selected plans, elevations, sections and a music-room cutaway describe the relationship between the landscape, rooms and building form.
Architectural visualizations and selected competition design drawings. Technical and energy proposals illustrate design intent for further coordination.
