Trondheim Residence

Trondheim Residence brings an existing timber house, a northern extension and a new garage together as one coherent home. The proposal preserves the house’s familiar character while creating more useful space for arrival, everyday routines, shared living and privacy.

Red timber cladding, white detailing and dark pitched roofs connect the original house with the new volumes. The lower entrance link and garage establish a gradual change in scale. A defined approach, planted boundaries and a garden terrace give the house a clearer relationship with its street and surroundings.

A generous entrance provides space for coats, shoes and everyday belongings. The laundry and utility area forms a sheltered internal connection to the garage, while a ground-floor bedroom and bathroom add flexibility for the household. The existing stair links the two floors, and a separate study offers a quiet place to work or read.

The living room, dining area and family lounge form a connected sequence of spaces with distinct uses. Natural oak, warm white surfaces, muted sage joinery and restrained terracotta accents carry through the interiors. Carefully placed lighting, fitted storage and tactile materials bring warmth to the practical details of daily life.

The neighbouring apartment building informs the height and openings of the addition. Lower roof forms and privacy-conscious glazing aim to limit visual impact and direct overlooking. The landscape proposal balances planted screening, usable garden space and greater openness to daylight. Selected plans, elevations, sections and junction studies trace the design from the scale of the site to the meeting of materials.

Architectural visualizations and selected annotated design-development drawings. Junction and structural studies illustrate design intent for further technical coordination.
